The One True God

Sam Shamoun

Shabir Ally has written a small article trying to prove that the only true God of the Holy Bible is the very One who sent the Quran as his final scripture for mankind. By trying to connect the god of Islam with the God of the Holy Bible, and quoting Bible references to do so, presupposes that the Holy Bible is authoritative. Shabir's approach means that the Holy Bible is the criterion that one must appeal to in order to verify the Quran. Yet by the same token, if the Holy Bible is authoritative enough to verify the Quran then it is just as authoritative to falsify it. Here, we will demonstrate how the God-breathed Scriptures which Ally appeals to falsifies the Quran and proves that Muhammad was not a true prophet.

The One True God
Most people realise that there is only one true God. Throughout history, this one true God has appointed many good men to tell others about Him so that humans everywhere may turn away from false gods and worship Him alone. Abraham, Moses, and Jesus (peace be upon them) all spoke about this one God and worshipped Him alone.
In the Gospel According to Matthew, 26:39 (King James Version) we are told that Jesus "fell on his face, and prayed" to God. And in the Gospel According to John, 17:3, Jesus declares that the one he prayed to is the only true God.

RESPONSE:

The God who spoke through the prophets of the Hebrew Scriptures, the true God to whom Jesus prayed, is the One who relates to believers as a loving Father:

"And you shall say to Pharaoh, 'Thus says the LORD, Israel is my first-born son, and I say to you, "Let my son go that he may serve me"; if you refuse to let him go, behold, I will slay your first-born son.'" Exodus 4:22-23

"You were unmindful of the Rock that begot you, and you forgot the God who gave you birth." Deuteronomy 32:18

"I will tell of the decree of the LORD: He said to me, 'You are my son, today I have begotten you.'" Psalm 2:7

"Who has ascended to heaven and come down? Who has gathered the wind in his fists? Who has wrapped up the waters in a garment? Who has established all the ends of the earth? What is his name, AND WHAT IS HIS SON'S NAME? Surely you know!" Proverbs 30:4

He is also the Father of Jesus, the Son of his love, whom he sent to save mankind:

"In those days Jesus came from Nazareth of Galilee and was baptized by John in the Jordan. And when he came up out of the water, immediately he saw the heavens opened and the Spirit descending upon him like a dove; and a voice came from heaven, 'You are my beloved Son; with you I am well pleased.'" Mark 1:9-11

"And after six days Jesus took with him Peter and James and John, and led them up a high mountain apart by themselves; and he was transfigured before them, and his garments became glistening, intensely white, as no fuller on earth could bleach them. And there appeared to them Eli'jah with Moses; and they were talking to Jesus. And Peter said to Jesus, 'Master, it is well that we are here; let us make three booths, one for you and one for Moses and one for Eli'jah.' For he did not know what to say, for they were exceedingly afraid. And a cloud overshadowed them, and a voice came out of the cloud, 'This is my beloved Son; listen to him.' And suddenly looking around they no longer saw any one with them but Jesus only. And as they were coming down the mountain, he charged them to tell no one what they had seen, until the Son of man should have risen from the dead. So they kept the matter to themselves, questioning what the rising from the dead meant." Mark 9:2-10

"And going a little farther he fell on his face and prayed, 'MY FATHER, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me; nevertheless, not as I will, but as you will.'" Matthew 26:39

"When Jesus had spoken these words, he lifted up his eyes to heaven and said, 'FATHER, the hour has come; glorify YOUR SON that THE SON may glorify you, since you have given him power over all flesh, to give eternal life to all whom you have given him. And this is eternal life, that they know you the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom you have sent. I glorified you on earth, having accomplished the work which you gave me to do; and now, FATHER, glorify me in your own presence with the glory WHICH I HAD WITH YOU BEFORE THE WORLD WAS MADE... FATHER, I desire that they also, whom you have given me, may be with me where I am, to behold my glory which you have given me in your love for me before the foundation of the world.'" John 17:1-5, 24

Note Jesus' prayer here in John 17. Christ looked to heaven and prayed to his Father, saying that he is his Son who gives eternal life to all that God gives him, that he was there with the Father in heavenly glory even before the world was created, and that the Father has loved him from before the world! It is quite obvious that Jesus doesn't pray like Muslims, nor does his prayers comport with Islamic theology.

Moreover to deny that Jesus is God's beloved Son is to accuse God of bearing false testimony, that God lied to the people when he testified that eternal life comes from believing that Christ is his Son:

"If we receive the testimony of men, the testimony of God is greater; for this is the testimony of God that he has borne witness to his Son. He who believes in the Son of God has the testimony in himself. He who does not believe God has made him a liar, because he has not believed in the testimony that God has borne to his Son. And this is the testimony, that God gave us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. He who has the Son has life; he who has not the Son of God has not life. I write this to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, that you may know that you have eternal life." 1 John 5:9-13

In fact, anyone who denies that God is Father and Jesus is the Son is a liar and the antichrist:

"Who is the liar but he who denies that Jesus is the Christ? This is the antichrist, he who denies the Father and the Son. No one who denies the Son has the Father. He who confesses the Son has the Father also." 1 John 2:22-23

We will see next that this is not the same God proclaimed in the Quran.

This very God speaks to us in these last days in His final Scripture which He will safeguard from corruption. God announces in His book good news to all those who believe in Him and do right. He says: Surely those who say, 'Our Lord is Allah,' and afterward are upright, the angels descend upon them, saying: Fear not nor grieve, but hear good tidings of the Paradise which you are promised. We are your protecting friends in the life of the world and in the Hereafter.

There you will have (all) that your souls desire, and there you will have (all) for which you pray. A gift of welcome from the Forgiving, the Merciful. (Qur'an 41:30-32)

RESPONSE:

There are many problems with trying to pass off the god of Islam as the true God of the Holy Bible, one of which being the fact that Muhammad's Allah is not a father to anyone. Allah is a lord who demands all creatures to come to him as slaves, no more and no less:

And they say: The Beneficent God has taken (to Himself) a son. Certainly you have made an abominable assertion The heavens may almost be rent thereat, and the earth cleave asunder, and the mountains fall down in pieces, That they ascribe a son to the Beneficent God. And it is not worthy of the Beneficent God that He should take (to Himself) a son. There is no one in the heavens and the earth but will come to the Beneficent God as a servant. S. 19:88-93 Shakir

Furthermore, the Quran denies that Jesus is God's Son and threatens to destroy anyone who would say otherwise:

And the Jews say: Uzair is the son of Allah; and the Christians say: The Messiah is the son of Allah; these are the words of their mouths; they imitate the saying of those who disbelieved before; may Allah destroy them; how they are turned away! S. 9:30 Shakir

What this proves is that the Quran is not the last scripture sent by the true God of the Holy Bible. Rather, the Quran is a false book written by one who sought to usurp and corrupt the true message of the true God, thereby preventing people from finding the salvation which comes from the One who alone is truly God, namely Yahweh Elohim:

"'You are my witnesses,' says the LORD, 'and my servant whom I have chosen, that you may know and believe me and understand that I am He. Before me no god was formed, nor shall there be any after me. I, I am the LORD, and besides me there is no savior.'" Isaiah 43:10-11

"I am the LORD your God from the land of Egypt; you know no God but me, and besides me there is no savior." Hosea 13:4

Shabir Ally continues:

Those who believe and do good works and believe in that which is revealed unto Muhammad — and it is the truth from your Lord — He rids them of their ill-deeds and improves their condition. That is because those who disbelieve follow falsehood and because those who believe follow the truth from their Lord. (Qur'an 47:2)

Accept this invitation, therefore, and enjoy a life of peace and satisfaction on earth, then everlasting life in God's Paradise. The true scripture promises all this to those who choose no other god except the one true God who was worshipped by Abraham, Moses, Jesus, and Muhammad (peace be upon them). The truth has now come to you from your Lord! Won't you accept it?

RESPONSE:

As we noted above, to believe in the god of the Quran is to disbelieve in the true God of the Holy Bible since they are not the same deity. The Quran is not the truth which came from the One whom even Ally acknowledges is the true God, Yahweh Elohim.

According to the genuine message of this real God salvation comes from believing in his beloved Son, trusting in the One whom the Father sent to redeem sinners by his life, death on the cross, resurrection, and his ascension into heaven where he intercedes for all who believe:

"For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God sent the Son into the world, not to condemn the world, but that the world might be saved through him. He who believes in him is not condemned; he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God." John 3:16-18

"'Do not labor for the food which perishes, but for the food which endures to eternal life, which the Son of man will give to you; for on him has God the Father set his seal.' Then they said to him, 'What must we do, to be doing the works of God?' Jesus answered them, 'This is the work of God, that you believe in him whom he has sent.'" John 6:27-29

"All that the Father gives me will come to me; and him who comes to me I will not cast out. For I have come down from heaven, not to do my own will, but the will of him who sent me; and this is the will of him who sent me, that I should lose nothing of all that he has given me, but raise it up at the last day. For this is the will of my Father, that every one who sees the Son and believes in him should have eternal life; and I will raise him up at the last day." John 6:37-40

"Now Jesus did many other signs in the presence of the disciples, which are not written in this book; but these are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that believing you may have life in his name." John 20:30-31

"What then shall we say to this? If God is for us, who is against us? He who did not spare his own Son but gave him up for us all, will he not also give us all things with him? Who shall bring any charge against God's elect? It is God who justifies; who is to condemn? Is it Christ Jesus, who died, yes, who was raised from the dead, who is at the right hand of God, who indeed intercedes for us? Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? As it is written, 'For your sake we are being killed all the day long; we are regarded as sheep to be slaughtered.' No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am sure that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God IN CHRIST JESUS OUR LORD." Romans 8:31-39

"And you he made alive, when you were dead through the trespasses and sins in which you once walked, following the course of this world, following the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that is now at work in the sons of disobedience. Among these we all once lived in the passions of our flesh, following the desires of body and mind, and so we were by nature children of wrath, like the rest of mankind. But God, who is rich in mercy, out of the great love with which he loved us, even when we were dead through our trespasses, made us alive together WITH CHRIST (by grace you have been saved), and raised us up WITH HIM, and made us sit WITH HIM in the heavenly places IN CHRIST JESUS, that in the coming ages he might show the immeasurable riches of his grace in kindness toward us IN CHRIST JESUS. For by grace you have been saved through faith; and this is not your own doing, it is the gift of God -- not because of works, lest any man should boast. For we are his workmanship, created in Chist Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them." Ephesians 2:1-10

"who has become a priest, not according to a legal requirement concerning bodily descent but by the power of an indestructible life... Consequently he is able for all time to save those who draw near to God through him, since he always lives to make intercession for them. For it was fitting that we should have such a high priest, holy, blameless, unstained, separated from sinners, exalted above the heavens. He has no need, like those high priests, to offer sacrifices daily, first for his own sins and then for those of the people; he did this once for all when he offered up himself." Hebrews 7:16, 25-27
