Answering A Fool According To His Folly

Taking Another Look At
The Quran’s Contradictory Creation Accounts

Sam Shamoun

Readers’ Discretion Advised

The Holy Bible says that there is a time and place in which to ignore a fool:

“Do not answer a fool according to his folly, Or you will also be like him.” Proverbs 26:4

Yet it then goes on to say that there is also a time in which answering a fool by using his own stupidity against him becomes necessary in order to silence his arrogant ranting:

“Answer a fool according to his folly, or he will be wise in his own eyes.” Proverbs 26:5

The members of the Muslim Debate Initiative (MDI), specifically Paul Bilal Williams and Sami Zaatari, are individuals who have no shame in spewing venom and blasphemies against the Christians who believe in the inspiration and consistency of the Holy Bible. What makes such behavior all the more repulsive and reprehensible is that they whine and complain when someone decides to give them a taste of their own medicine.

In light of their bullying tactics and mockery of the faith, I have decided to stoop to their level in order to show them what it feels like when someone gives them a taste of their own medicine.

In the comments section to one of his blog posts, Williams insults a very respectful and well-mannered Christian apologist who goes by the name Apologeticsandagape and mockingly challenges him to answer an alleged Biblical discrepancy:

Paul Williams

There are two creation accounts in Genesis that contradict themselves in various ways. One way of illustrating this point is to ask a simple question:

according to the 2 accounts what was the last thing that God created on earth?

A very simple question Ken. What is the answer?

His partner in dawaganda couldn’t resist himself and so had to chime in with his typical mockery and blasphemies:

I have an answer, you see Paul, what we really must ask is what do you mean by last? And what does the Bible mean when it alludes to the last thing that was created? Is it to be understood by our human understanding of how things work and appear, for example the last man out of the building was Bob, but when it comes to the Bible, is this how we must understand it? I don’t think so, as Jesus said, the first must become last, and last become first, so therefore biblically speaking it has a different perspective on the numerical or pattern way of things. So in reality what seems to have been the last thing God created doesn’t necessarily mean it was the literal last thing to our perception, and so there is no contradiction with the first account, we must view the order of things not by our perception and understanding, but the understanding of God, and so there really is no contradiction.

I would make a great evangelical fundamentalist.

As the readers can tell from their comments, these “Christophobes” can’t mask their utter hatred for the Holy Bible or for those who are committed to its authority.

Be that as it may, it really does get rather tiring, in fact boring, having to hear the same outdated attacks on God’s Word ad nauseam ad infinitum especially when such criticisms have already been refuted time and time again. If Williams were truly sincere then he would have found the answer to his question since this canard has been refuted time and time again, just as the following articles indicate:

However, it doesn’t surprise us that Williams would throw out such objections since he has shown that truthfulness and integrity are not his strong suits, nor is being consistent one of his virtues.

Now to answer Williams’ question, the last thing that God created was the female or woman:

“Then God said, ‘Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; and let THEM rule over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the sky and over the cattle and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.’ God created man in His own image, in the image of God He created him; male AND FEMALE He created them. God blessed THEM; and God said to THEM, ‘Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the earth, and subdue it; and rule over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the sky and over every living thing that moves on the earth.’ Then God said, ‘Behold, I have given you every plant yielding seed that is on the surface of all the earth, and every tree which has fruit yielding seed; it shall be food for you; and to every beast of the earth and to every bird of the sky and to every thing that moves on the earth which has life, I have given every green plant for food’; and it was so. God saw all that He had made, and behold, it was very good. And there was evening and there was morning, the sixth day.” Genesis 1:26-31

“Then the LORD God said, ‘It is not good for the man to be alone; I will make him a helper suitable for him.’ Out of the ground the LORD God formed every beast of the field and every bird of the sky, and brought them to the man to see what he would call them; and whatever the man called a living creature, that was its name. The man gave names to all the cattle, and to the birds of the sky, and to every beast of the field, but for Adam there was not found a helper suitable for him. So the LORD God caused a deep sleep to fall upon the man, and he slept; then He took one of his ribs and closed up the flesh at that place. The LORD God fashioned into a woman the rib which He had taken from the man, and brought her to the man. The man said, ‘This is now bone of my bones, And flesh of my flesh; She shall be called Woman, Because she was taken out of Man.’ For this reason a man shall leave his father and his mother, and be joined to his wife; and they shall become one flesh. And the man and his wife were both naked and were not ashamed.” Genesis 2:18-25

Since we want to help Williams to be consistent and honest we are going to turn the tables on him by asking him a similar question. According to Allah and his “messenger,” what was created first? Was it the earth and its provisions or the heavens?

According to the following texts, Allah created the earth and its provisions before he created the heavens:

He it is Who created for you ALL THAT IS ON EARTH. THEN (Thumma) He Istawa (rose over) towards the heaven and made them seven heavens and He is the All-Knower of everything. S. 2:29

Say (O Muhammad): "Do you verily disbelieve in Him Who created the earth in two Days and you set up rivals (in worship) with Him? That is the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists). He placed therein (i.e. the earth) firm mountains from above it, and He blessed it, and measured therein its sustenance (for its dwellers) in four Days equal (i.e. all these four 'days' were equal in the length of time), for all those who ask (about its creation). THEN (Thumma) He Istawa (rose over) towards the heaven WHEN IT WAS SMOKE, and said to it and to the earth: "Come both of you willingly or unwillingly." They both said: "We come, willingly." Then He completed and finished from their creation (as) seven heavens in two Days and He made in each heaven its affair. And We adorned the nearest (lowest) heaven with lamps (stars) to be an adornment as well as to guard (from the devils by using them as missiles against the devils). Such is the Decree of Him the All-Mighty, the All-Knower. S. 41:9-12 Hilali-Khan

So according to the foregoing Allah created the cosmos in the following sequence:

1. Allah first created the earth in two days (Q. 41:9). This is the view of noted Muslim commentators such as Ibn Kathir:

(Who created the heavens and the earth in Six Days) (7:54), is explained in more detail; the creation of the earth and the creation of the heaven are discussed separately. Allah says that He created the earth FIRST, because it is the foundation, and the foundation SHOULD BE BUILT FIRST, then the roof. Allah says elsewhere…” (Tafsir Ibn Kathir, Q. 41:10; bold and capital emphasis ours)

2. He created the mountains and the earth’s sustenance in 4 days (Q. 41:10).

3. Allah then turned to the heaven when it was still smoke and proceeded to fashion it into seven heavens and created the stars in 2 days (Q. 41:11-12).

Needless to say, this depiction of the origins of the cosmos does not agree with modern scientific theories and discoveries. If the Quran was scientifically accurate then the order of Q. 41:9-12 should have been:

1. Allah turned to the heaven when it was still smoke and turned it into seven heavens.

2. Allah created the lamps which govern the lower heavens (which is another gross mistake).

3. Allah then created the earth and all its nourishments.

But it gets worse for Williams since the Quran not only contradicts modern scientific theories it even contradicts itself!

According to the following passage Allah actually created the heavens first!

Are you more difficult to create, or is the heaven that He constructed? He raised its height, and He has equally ordered it, Its night He covers with darkness, and its forenoon He brings out (with light). AND AFTER THAT (bad'a) He spread the earth; And brought forth therefrom its water and its pasture; And the mountains He has fixed firmly; (To be) a provision and benefit for you and your cattle. S. 79:27-33 Hilali-Khan

Here is the order of creation according to this text:

1. Allah created the heavens first.

2. Afterwards Allah decided to spread the earth and create all of its provisions.

Yet the problems are not over for Williams since we not only have the Quran contradicting itself, we even find the sunna of Muhammad contradicting the Muslim scripture as well!

Notice what the following narration says concerning the order of creation:

Abu Huraira reported that Allah's Messenger took hold of my hands and said: Allah, the Exalted and Glorious, created the clay on Saturday and He created the mountains on Sunday and He created the trees on Monday and He created the things entailing labour on Tuesday and created light on Wednesday and lie caused the animals to spread on Thursday and created Adam after 'Asr on Friday; the last creation at the last hour of the hours of Friday, i.e. between afternoon and night. (Sahih Muslim, Book 39, Number 6707; *)

This tradition is also cited in the Miskhat along with some other fantastic stories about creation:

He said: God’s messenger took me by the hand and said, “God created the earth on Saturday, created the mountains in it on Sunday, created the trees on Monday, created what is objectionable on Tuesday, created the light on Wednesday, sent forth animals in the earth on Thursday, and created Adam in the late afternoon on Friday, at the end of the creation and at the last hour of the day between the afternoon and the night.” Muslim transmitted it.

He told that while God’s prophet and his companions were sitting clouds came over them and God’s prophet asked, “Do you know what these are?” On their replying that God and His messenger knew best, he said, “These are the clouds (‘anam), these are the water-carriers of the earth which God drives to people who do not thank Him or call upon Him.” He then asked, “Do you know what is above you?” On their replying that God and His messenger knew best, he said, “It is the firmament, a ceiling which is guarded and waves which are kept back.” He then asked, “Do you know what is between you and it?” On their replying that God and His messenger knew best, he said, “Between you and it are five hundred years.” He then asked, “Do you know what is above that?” On their replying that God and His messenger knew best, he said, “Two heavens with a distance of five hundred years between them.” He went on speaking like that till he counted seven heavens, the distance between each pair being like that between the heaven and the earth. He then asked, “Do you know what is above that?” On their replying that God and His messenger knew best, he said, “Above that is the Throne, and the distance between it and the [seventh] heaven is the same as that between each pair of heavens.” He then asked, “Do you know what is below you?” On their replying that God and His messenger knew best, he said, “It is the earth.” He then asked, “Do you know what is under that?” On their replying that God and His messenger knew best, he said, “Under it there is another earth with a journey of five hundred years between them,” and so on till he had counted seven earths with a journey of five hundred years between each pair. He then said, “By Him in whose hand Muhammad’s soul is, if you were to drop a rope to the lowest earth it would not pass out of God’s knowledge.”1 He then recited, “He is the First and the Last, the Outward and Inward, and He is omniscient.” Ahmad and Tirmidhi transmitted it, Tirmidhi saying that God’s messenger’s recitation of the verse indicates that it would go down within God’s knowledge, power and authority, for God’s knowledge, power and authority are everywhere, while He is on the Throne, as He described Himself in His Book.”

He reported God’s messenger as saying, “Adam was sixty cubits tall and sevn cubits broad.”(Mishkat Al Masabih, English Translation With Explanatory Notes By Dr. James Robson [Sh. Muhammad Ashraf Publishers, Booksellers & Exporters, Lahore, Pakistan, Reprinted 1994], Volume II, Book XXVI – Fitan, Chapter XVII. The Beginning of Creation and Mention of the Prophets, pp. 1227-1229; bold emphasis ours)

1. Literally, “it would fall upon God”. (Ibid, p. 1229)

Suffice it to say, this hadith introduces some additional contradictions for Williams to work through.

In the first place, this narration presupposes that it took Allah seven days to create everything. In that case this report contradicts Q. 41:9-12 which says that it took Allah two days to create the earth, four days to create its nourishment, and then an additional two days to create the heavens, which gives us a total of eight days.

But that’s not all! Both the hadith and this particular Quranic text contradict other statements from the Muslim scripture which expressly state that Allah created the heavens and the earth, and all that is within them, in six days!

Who created the heavens and the earth AND ALL THAT IS BETWEEN THEM in six Days, then He mounted the Throne. The Beneficent! Ask anyone informed concerning Him! S. 25:59 Pickthall

Allah it is He Who has created the heavens and the earth, AND ALL THAT IS BETWEEN THEM in six Days. Then He Istawa (rose over) the Throne (in a manner that suits His Majesty). You (mankind) have none, besides Him, as a Wali (protector or helper etc.) or an intercessor. Will you not then remember (or be admonished)? S. 32:4 Hilali-Khan

And indeed We created the heavens and the earth AND ALL BETWEEN THEM in six Days and nothing of fatigue touched Us. S. 50:38 Hilali-Khan

This brings up the second problem with this specific narrative. The report also contradicts the order of creation as outlined in Q. 79:27-33. According to the latter text, Allah created the earth’s provisions such as mountains after he had finished creating the heavens. However, the hadith has Allah creating things such as the soil, mountains and trees from Saturday to Tuesday, even before he created the heavens!

This leads us to the third problem which Williams faces. According to the same hadith Allah created light on Wednesday, which obviously refers to the sun, the moon and the stars since the Quran expressly says that these are the objects which were created to give light:

Blessed be He Who has placed in the heaven big stars, and has placed therein a great lamp (sun), and a moon giving light. S. 25:61

Then He lifted Himself to heaven when it was smoke, and said to it and to the earth, "Come willingly, or unwillingly!" They said, "We come willingly." So He determined them as seven heavens in two days, and revealed its commandment in every heaven.' And We adorned the lower heaven with lamps, and to reserve; that is the ordaining of the All-mighty, the All-knowing. S. 41:11-12 Arberry

See you not how Allah has created the seven heavens one above another, And has made the moon a light therein, and made the sun a lamp? S. 71:15-16 Hilali-Khan

And We have built above you seven strong (heavens), And have made (therein) a shinning lamp (sun). S. 78:12-13 Hilali-Khan

Now just in case he tries to argue that this is a weak narration, Williams must contend with the fact that this hadith comes from a compilation that many Muslims deem to be the second most authentic collection of narrations ever compiled. In fact, some of the Islamic scholars claim that in some aspects Sahih Muslim is actually superior to al-Bukhari’s collection!

“… Although Sahih al-Bukhari is the most reliable collection of Ahadith, however, Sahih Muslim has certain aspects of superiority. Imam Muslim adhered strictly to most of the principles of the Science of Hadith which were somehow at some places ignored by his teacher Imam Bukhari. Imam Muslim accepted for his collection only such Ahadith which had been transmitted with an unbroken chain of reliable narrators, free from all defects and were in perfect harmony with the narrations of other narrators. He has recorded only those ahadith which were transmitted at least by two different transmitters from two different Companions. Imam Bukhari has sometimes used the Kunyah (surname) of the narrators and sometimes their names. Imam Muslim avoided this confusion. Imam Muslim is also particular in pointing out the slightest difference in the text of the narrations. Imam Bukhari has fragmented most of the Ahadith and presented the portions under different chapters, while Imam Muslim presented them as a whole narration. So, the works of both Imams provide different approaches for the scholars and readers of Ahadith.” (The Translation of the Meanings of Summarized Sahih Muslim, Publisher’s Note, Volume 1, p. ii; bold emphasis ours)

And:

“Imam Muslim compiled many books and treatises on Hadith, the most important of his works is the compilation of the Hadith collection Al-Jami‘ As-Sahih, which is famous by the name of Sahih Muslim. Some scholars of Hadith opine that in some respects IT IS THE BEST AND MOST AUTHENTIC COLLECTION of Ahadith. Imam Muslim laboriously collected 3,00,000 Ahadith, but after critical study, he selected only 4,000 Ahadith for this collection…

“Many students learned the Science of Hadith from Imam Muslim. Those who became famous and occupied a prominent position are: Abu Hatim Razi, Musa bin Harun, Ahmad bin Salamah, Abu ‘Isa Tirmidhi, Abu Bakr bin Khuzaimah, Abu ‘Awanah and Hafiz Dhahbi.” (Ibid., p. v; bold and capital emphasis ours)

The following quotation is taken from the Muslim website Islamic Awareness (IA):

Imam Muslim said: "I have not included in my present book any thing BUT WITH PROOF [regarding authenticity], and I have not left out anything but with proof." He also said: I did not include everything that I judge authentic/Sahih, I ONLY INCLUDED WHAT RECEIVED A UNANIMOUS AGREEMENT, i.e., WHAT FULFILLED ALL THE CRITERIA OF AUTHENTICITY AGREED UPON [by the scholars].

And Muslim has presented [his collection] TO THE SCHOLARS OF HIS TIME, like Imam Abu Zar`ah, AND RETAINED WHAT WAS VOID OF DEFECT, and left out what had some defect. (Al-Imam Muhyee ad-Din Abi Zakariyya Yahya bin Sharaf al-Nawawi, Sahih Muslim Bi Sharh al-Imam al-Nawawi, Volume I, [Dar al-Khair, 1994 (1414 A.H.)], Volume I, p. 1) (Khalid al-Khazraji, Muhammad Ghoniem & M S M Saifullah, On The Nature Of Hadith Collections Of Imam Al-Bukhari & Muslim; capital emphasis ours)

This proves that this particular tradition thoroughly met Imam Muslim’s stringent criteria of authenticity, which also indicates that this renowned hadith scholar was fully convinced that this was an actual narration of Muhammad. Therefore, Williams is going to have to do a lot more than simply toss this report aside as someone’s mistaken view since according to the very strict criteria employed by Imam Muslim this is a genuine saying of the historical Muhammad (that is, as far as Islamic historiography and hadith criticism are concerned).

Nor was Imam Muslm the only hadith scholar that collected this narration. For instance, Ibn Kathir appealed to this same report in his explanation on Q. 7:54:

The Universe was created in Six Days

Allah states that He created the universe, the heavens and earth and all that is in, on and between them in six days, as He has stated in several Ayat in the Qur'an. These six days are: Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. On Friday, the entire creation was assembled and on that day, Adam was created. There is a difference of opinion whether these days were the same as our standard days as suddenly comes to the mind, or each day constitutes one thousand years, as reported from Mujahid, Imam Ahmad bin Hanbal, and from Ibn `Abbas according to Ad-Dahhak’s narration from him. As for Saturday, no creation took place in it since it is the seventh day of (of the week). The word ‘As-Sabt’ means stoppage, or break. Imam Ahmad recorded Abu Huraryah saying: Allah’s Messenger told me…

((Allah created the dust on Saturday, and He created the mountains on Sunday, and He created the trees on Monday, and He created the unpleasant things on Tuesday and He created the light on Wednesday and He spread the creatures through out it on Thursday and He created Adam after 'Asr on between 'Asr and the night.)) (Tafsir Ibn Kathir (Abridged) (Surat Al-A'raf to the end of Sura Yunus), First Edition: May 2000, Volume 4, pp. 76-77)

Imam Ahmad is Ahmad ibn Hanbal, a Muslim scholar and hadith compiler who has a school of Islamic jurisprudence named in his honor. Ibn Kathir was obviously referring to his collection of hadiths known as Musnad Ahmad, as even the translators themselves point out:

Ahmad 2:327 and Muslim no. 2149. (Ibid., fn. 2, p. 77)

Thus, we have at least two renowned hadith scholars that transmitted this narrative!

Finally, one of Salafi Islam’s greatest hadith scholars al-Albani chided the Muslims who rejected this hadith on the grounds that it contradicts the Quran:

Hadith 1833

“Allah created the soil on Saturday, then he created the mountains on Sunday, then he created the trees on Monday, then he created what is reprehensible on Tuesday, then he created the light on Wednesday, then he made the animals on Thursday, then he created Adam late afternoon (after Asr) of Friday as the last of creation at the last hour of Friday between Asr and night time.” Sahih.

This hadith does not differ with the Quran as some assume, review al-Mishkat # 5735, and the abridged copy of “The Height” by Al-Zahabi, Hadith # 71. Also, view the lengthy investigation in the book on page 664. Its summary is that the details in the hadith are different than the details in the Quran, and its days are different. In this case it is mandatory for scholars “to hug one another in lieu of beating each other.” (Shaikh al-Albani, The Complete Collection of the Sahih Hadith Series, Volume 4 (of 7 volumes))

The last sentence is an exhortation from Al-Albani who was frustrated that some from within the Islamic camp were questioning the tension between the Quranic account of creation and this particular hadith. Albani was urging Muslim scholars to work together, and not against each other, concerning this tension in order to find a way of reconciling these conflicting statements.

In light of the foregoing, Williams has no choice as a Sunni Muslim but to view this narration as an authentic saying of his prophet.

So now which is it? Which of these conflicting statements are Muslims supposed to believe?

Are Muslims supposed to believe that Allah created the earth and the heavens, and everything within them, in six days? Or are they supposed to believe that he did it in eight days, or perhaps in seven as reported in Sahih Muslim?

And should they believe that the heavens and all that is within them were only created after the earth and its nourishment were formed? Or should they believe that he actually created the heavens before the earth and its provisions? Or should they follow the hadith and assume that certain parts of the earth were formed before the heavens and/or its constellations, and some other parts such as animals and man only afterwards?

Now before Williams tries to reconcile all of these gross contradictions within the Quran and the sunna, we want to encourage him to read our responses to the attempts made by his fellow Islamic cohorts who tried (but miserably failed) to explain away these egregious errors:

However, there is one possible way of explaining this blatant mistake on the part of Allah and his “messenger,” one which I have yet to hear any dawagandist make.

Muslims are required to believe that the Quran is the uncreated speech of Allah:

33. The Qur'an is the word of Allah. It came from Him as speech without it being possible to say how. He sent it down on His Messenger as revelation. The believers accept it, as absolute truth. They are certain that it is, in truth, the word of Allah. It is not created as is the speech of human beings, and anyone who hears it and claims that it is human speech has become an unbeliever. Allah warns him and censures him and threatens him with Fire when He says, Exalted is He: "I will burn him in the Fire." (al-Muddaththir 74:26) When Allah threatens with the Fire those who say "This is just human speech" (74:25) we know for certain that it is the speech of the Creator of mankind and that it is totally unlike the speech of mankind. (G. F. Haddad, Tahawi’s Statement of Islamic Doctrine (Al-`Aqida Al-Tahawiyya))

As such the statements contained therein have always existed with Allah. This, therefore, means that these contradictory descriptions of creation were around even before Allah had decided to create anything.

The Islamic scripture also mentions the fact that Allah has a habit of abrogating one set of uncreated statements with another set which are also supposed to have always existed:

Whatever a Verse (revelation) do We abrogate or cause to be forgotten, We bring a better one or similar to it. Know you not that Allah is able to do all things? S. 2:106 Hilali-Khan

And when We change a Verse [of the Qur'an, i.e. cancel (abrogate) its order] in place of another, and Allah knows the best of what He sends down, they (the disbelievers) say: "You (O Muhammad) are but a Muftari! (forger, liar)." Nay, but most of them know not. S. 16:101 Hilali-Khan

Therefore, it is quite possible that Allah may have initially been debating with himself concerning what to create first. Allah finally made up his mind and decided to abrogate one of the contradictory descriptions of the creation account. However, Allah must have forgotten about these conflicting accounts of creation which may explain why he sent all of them down upon his “messenger” who then caused these contradictory claims to be written down for all to see.

With the foregoing in mind, I conclude my discussion by adapting Zaatari’s words to Williams in order to give him a taste of his own medicine:

I have an answer, you see Paul, what we really must ask is what do you mean by first? And what does the Allah and his “messenger” mean when they speak of the first thing that was created? Is it to be understood by our human understanding of how things work and appear, for example the first man to leave Mecca was Ahmad, but when it comes to the Quran and sunna, is this how we must understand it? I don’t think so, as Allah and his “messenger” have said, “It is He who sent down upon you the Book, wherein are verses clear that are the Mother of the Book, and others ambiguous. As for those in whose hearts is swerving, they follow the ambiguous part, desiring dissension, and desiring its interpretation; and none knows its interpretation, save only Allah. And those firmly rooted in knowledge say, 'We believe in it; all is from our Lord'; yet none remembers, but men possessed of minds” (Q. 3:7); so therefore Islamicly speaking it has a different perspective on the numerical pattern or way of things. So in reality what seems to have been the first thing Allah told his messenger that he created doesn’t necessarily mean it was the first literal thing to our perception, and so there is no contradiction with these chaotic and confused Quranic ayat; we must view the order of things not by our perception and understanding, but by the understanding of Allah and his “messenger”, and so there really is no contradiction.

Boy would I make a fantastic Muhammadan!

Apart from being some of the greatest Muslim fanatics and fundamentalists on the internet, Williams and Zaatari are also fantastic comedians since their arguments are simply hilarious, being some of the best comedy ever produced by Muslims!

Who knows, maybe they can even convince Abdullah al-Andalusi to team up with them in order start up the first ever Islamic version of the three stooges!

Hopefully, this will send Williams a message that he better learn to control the hate and venom which fills his heart and causes him to mock and blaspheme the true God (the glorious and majestic Trinity), his only inspired Word (the Holy Bible), and his people who love him and his Word (the Church of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ). Otherwise, he will end up getting more than simply a dose of his own medicine so he can learn what it feels like to insult and hurt the feelings of others who don’t believe the nonsense and lies that he has chosen to swallow.

He should start putting into practice the counsel that his own false prophet gave to his followers:

And do not abuse those whom they call upon besides Allah, lest exceeding the limits they should abuse Allah out of ignorance. Thus have We made fair seeming to every people their deeds; then to their Lord shall be their return, so He will inform them of what they did. S. 6:108 Shakir

Otherwise, he better not complain and whine when people respond back to him in the manner in which he speaks and treats others. Williams is going to be forced to learn to take it just as well as he dishes it out to others.
