Answering Islam - A Christian-Muslim dialog

A Dawagandist Turns Muhammad Into A God!

Sam Shamoun

Muslim taqiyyist and Christophobe Paul Bilal Williams has made some statements that have some rather disastrous implications for his so-called monotheistic beliefs. In a response to a Christian commenter to his blog, Williams made the assertion that Islam denies the need for an intermediary/mediator since it teaches that a person can approach Allah directly:

In Islam God is the only saviour. We do not need an intermediary (unlike the NT which claims that we need a human mediator between God and man: 1 Tim 2:5). Jesus himself taught that we can come to God directly without priests or go- betweens, for example in Luke 15. We can come directly to God our Creator. This is the message of Jesus and Muhammad. Sadly this message became obscured by some later Christians who deified the Messenger in derogation of his message. The apotheosis of saintly men has often happened in history: Ali the Prophet’s son-in-law was seen by some misguided people as the incarnation of God during his life time. The Buddha is now worshipped and prayed to, though he never claimed to be divine. (The Road to Mecca: My Story (part 2))

It is comments like these which confirm what we have been saying concerning Williams. We have often accused Williams of not only being blatantly inconsistent, as well as dishonest for twisting the Holy Scriptures the way he does, we have even called into question his knowledge of Islam. Williams is either ignorant concerning the teachings of Islam, and should therefore discontinue his blog since he has no business speaking about his faith, or he is outright deceptive since he knows what his religious sources teach, but chooses to mislead and deceive people anyway.

Take, for instance, his claim that Allah is the only savior and that Muhammad taught that there is no need for a human mediator to act as a go-between, since individuals can approach Allah directly. This is simply a false statement since the Quran clearly says that Muslims need Muhammad’s intercession in order to be forgiven by Allah:

“for We have never sent any apostle save that he should be heeded by God's leave. If, then, after having sinned against themselves, they would but come round to thee and ask God to forgive them – with the Apostle, too, praying that they be forgiven – they would assuredly find that God is an acceptor of repentance, a dispenser of grace.” S. 4:64 Muhammad Asad

Here is another version of this same passage:

We sent no Messenger, but to be obeyed by Allah's Leave. If they (hypocrites), when they had been unjust to themselves, had come to you (Muhammad) and begged Allah's Forgiveness, and the Messenger had begged forgiveness for them: indeed, they would have found Allah All-Forgiving (One Who accepts repentance), Most Merciful. Hilali-Khan

The above text explicitly teaches that a person must come to Muhammad and have him pray to Allah if s/he wants to be forgiven.

In fact, some of the so-called authentic traditions state that people would actually visit Muhammad’s grave in order to ask for his mediation as a direct result of this verse:

(In this Qur'anic verse) Allah is exhorting the sinners and evildoers that when they commit sins and errors they should call on the Messenger of Allah and ask forgiveness from Allah. They should also request the Messenger of Allah to pray for them. When they do so, Allah will turn to them and forgive them and He will show mercy to them. That is why He used the words la-wajadullaha tawwaban-rahima (they (on the basis of this means and intercession) would have surely found Allah the Granter of repentance, extremely Merciful). Many have stated this tradition. One of them is Abu Mansur al-Sabbagh (some manuscripts say Abu Nasr) who writes in his book Al-Shamil Al-Hikayat-ul-mashhurah that, according to ‘Utbi, once he was sitting beside the Prophet’s grave when a bedouin came and he said, “Peace be on you, O Allah’s Messenger. I have heard that Allah says: ‘(O beloved!) And if they had come to you, when they had wronged their souls, and asked forgiveness of Allah, and the Messenger also had asked forgiveness for them, they (on the basis of this means and intercession) would have surely found Allah the Granter of repentance, extremely Merciful.’ I have come to you, asking forgiveness for my sins and I make you as MY INTERMEDIARY before my Lord and I have come to you for this purpose.” Then he recited these verses: “O, the most exalted among the buried people who improved the worth of the plains and the hillocks! May I sacrifice my life for this grave which is made radiant by you, the one who is of mercy and forgiveness.” Then the bedouin went away and I fell asleep. In my dream I saw the Holy Prophet. He said to me: O ‘Utbi, the bedouin is right, go and give him the good news that Allah has forgiven his sins.

This tradition was narrated by Ibn Kathir in his commentary to Q. 4:64. The next tradition was mentioned by another renowned Muslim expositor named al-Qurtubi in his exposition of this same text:

Its related from Abu Sadiq that Imam Ali said: “Three days after burying the Prophet, an Arab came and threw himself on the grave of the Prophet, took the earth and threw it on his head. He said: ‘Ya Rasulallah! You did speak and we did hear, you learned from Allah and we did learn from you. Between those things which Allah did send you, is the following… Q. 4:64). I am the one who is a sinner and now I did come to you, so that you may ask for me.’ After that a call FROM THE GRAVE came: ‘There’s no doubt, you are forgiven!’”

Nor is this the only citation which shows that Muhammad’s intercession is necessary for obtaining forgiveness for the transgressions one has committed:

It was by the mercy of Allah that thou wast lenient with them (O Muhammad), for if thou hadst been stern and fierce of heart they would have dispersed from round about thee. So pardon them and ask forgiveness for them and consult with them upon the conduct of affairs. And when thou art resolved, then put thy trust in Allah. Lo! Allah loveth those who put their trust (in Him). S. 3:159 Pickthall

Only those are believers who believe in Allah and His Apostle, and when they are with him on a momentous affair they go not away until they have asked his permission; surely they who ask your permission are they who believe in Allah and His Apostle; so when they ask your permission for some affair of theirs, give permission to whom you please of them and ask forgiveness for them from Allah; surely Allah is Forgiving, Merciful. S. 24:62 Shakir

So know (O Muhammad) that there is no God save Allah, and ask forgiveness for thy sin and for believing men and believing women. Allah knoweth (both) your place of turmoil and your place of rest. S. 47:19 Pickthall

O Prophet! when believing women come to you giving you a pledge that they will not associate aught with Allah, and will not steal, and will not commit fornication, and will not kill their children, and will not bring a calumny which they have forged of themselves, and will not disobey you in what is good, accept their pledge, and ask forgiveness for them from Allah; surely Allah is Forgiving, Merciful. S. 60:12 Shakir

Muhammad was further told to take money from his followers in order to purify them from their sins, and to invoke Allah since his invocations are said to be a certain source of security for the believers:

Take Sadaqah (alms) from their wealth in order to purify them and sanctify them with it, and invoke Allah for them. Verily! Your invocations are a source of security for them, and Allah is All-Hearer, All-Knower. S. 9:103 Hilali-Khan

The Quran even goes as far as to say that if anyone does not come to Muhammad in faith then s/he will never be forgiven even if Muhammad were to ask Allah to forgive them:

And when it is said to them: “Come, so that the Messenger of Allah may ask forgiveness from Allah for you”, they turn aside their heads, and you would see them turning away their faces in pride. It is equal to them whether you (Muhammad) ask forgiveness or ask not forgiveness for them. Verily, Allah guides not the people who are the Fasiqin (rebellious, disobedient to Allah). S. 63:5-6 Hilali-Khan

This clearly shows that salvation is completely dependant on believing in Muhammad and obeying him perfectly, a point reiterated in the following citations:

But no, by your Lord, they can have no Faith, until they make you (O Muhammad) judge in all disputes between them, and find in themselves NO RESISTANCE against your decisions, and accept (them) with full submission. S. 4:65 Hilali-Khan

Hence, Islam is not simply about submitting to Allah. Rather, true Islam is all about total submission to Allah and Muhammad! This sufficiently puts to rest Williams’ lie that, in Islam, Allah is the only savior.

However, the problems are just beginning for Williams.

According to the so-called authentic traditions Muhammad personally taught people to supplicate him directly, and to also invoke his name as an intercessor when making their requests to Allah:

3578. ‘Uthman bin Hunaif narrated that a blind man came to the Prophet and said to him: “Supplicate to Allah to heal me.” He said: “If you wish, I will supplicate for you, and if you wish, you can be patient, for that is better for you.” He said: “Then supplicate to him.” He said: “So he ordered him to perform Wudu’ and to make his Wudu’ complete, and to supplicate with this supplication: ‘O Allah, I ask You and turn towards You by Your Prophet Muhammad, the Prophet of Mercy. Indeed, I have turned to my Lord, BY MEANS OF YOU, concerning this need of mine, so that it can be resolved, So Allah so accept HIS INTERCESSION for me (Allahumma Inni As’aluka WA MUHAMMADIN Nabi-Ir-Rahmati Tawajjahtu Bika Ila Rabbi Fi Hajati Hadhihi Lituqda Li, Allahumma FASHAFFI‘HU Fiya).’” (SAHIH)

[He said]: This Hadith is Hasan SAHIH Gharib, we do not know of it except through this route, as a narration of Abu Ja‘far, and he is someone other than Al-Khatmi, [and Uthman bin Hunaif is the brother of Sahl bin Hunaif] (English Translation of Jami‘ At-Tirmidhi: Compiled by Imam Hafiz Abu ‘Eisa Mohammad Ibn ‘Eisa At-Tirmidhi, translated by Abu Khaliyl (USA), ahadith edited and referenced by Hafiz Tahir Zubair ‘Ali Za’i [Darussalam Publishers & Distributors, First Edition: November 2007], Volume 6, From Hadith No. 3291 to 3956, Various Narrations On The Chapters Of Supplications, Chapter 118, p. 283; capital and underline emphasis ours)

Here is a different version of this same hadith:

1385. It was narrated from ‘Uthman bin Hunaif that a blind man came to the Prophet and said to him: “Pray to Allah to heal me.” He said: “If you wish to store your reward for the Hereafter, that is better, or if you wish, I will supplicate for you.” He said: “Supplicate.” He said: “So he told him to perform ablution and do it well, and to pray two Rak’ah, and to say this supplication: “Allahumma inni as’aluka wa atawajjahu ilaika BI-MUHAMMADIN NABIYYIR-RAHMA.YA MUHAMMADU inni qad tawajjahtu bika ila rabbi fi hajati hadhihi Lituqda. Allahumma FASHAFFI‘HU fiya (O Allah, I ask of You and I turn my face towards You BY VIRTUE OF THE INTERCESSION OF MUHAMMAD THE PROPHET OF MERCY. O MUHAMMAD, I have turned to my Lord BY VIRTUE OF YOUR INTERCESSION concerning this need of mine, so that it may be met. O Allah, accept HIS INTERCESSION concerning me)”. (SAHIH) (English Translation of Sunan Ibn Majah: Compiled by Imam Muhammad Bin Yazeed Ibn Majah Al-Qazwini, Ahadith edited and referenced by Hafiz Abu Tahir Zubair 'Ali Za'i, translated by Nasiruddin al-Khattab (Canada), final review by Abu Khaliyl (USA) [Darussalam Publications and Distributors, First Edition: June 2007], Volume 2, From Hadith no. 803 to 1782, 5. The Chapters Of Establishing The Prayer And The Sunnah Regarding Them, Chapter 189. What Was Narrated Concerning Prayer At Times Of Need, pp. 329-330; capital and underline emphasis ours)

Moreover, the Muslim expositors claim that the following texts which speak of Allah accepting the intercession of specific individuals,

On that day no intercession shall avail, except the one for whom the Most Beneficent (Allah) has given permission and whose word is acceptable to Him. S. 20:109 – cf. 19:87; 21:28; 34:23; 53:26

Refer specifically to Muhammad coming before Allah on the last day and interceding on behalf of his followers in order to save them from hell:

In the Two Sahihs it is reported from the leader of the Children of Adam and the Noblest of all the creatures to Allah, Muhammad…

<<I will come under the Throne and I will fall down into prostration. Then, I will be inspired to make praises (of Allah) that I am not able to recall them now. Allah will leave me in this condition as long as He wishes. Then, He will say, “O Muhammad, raise your head. Speak and you will be heard, intercede and your intercession will be accepted.” Then, a designated group will be allowed for me (to intercede on their behalf). Allah will then enter them into Paradise and I will return (to repeat the process again).>> The Prophet mentioned doing this four times. May Allah's blessings and peace be upon him and the rest of the Prophets as well. In another Hadith it also mentions that he said…

<<Allah, the Exalted, will say, “Bring out of the Fire whoever has a seed's weight of faith in his heart.” So A LARGE NUMBER of people will be brought out. Then He will say, “Bring out of the Fire whoever has a half of a seed's weight of faith in his heart. Bring out whoever has the weight of a speck of dust in his heart. Bring out whoever has the weight of the smallest and tiniest particle of dust of faith in his heart.>> And the Hadith continues… (Tafsir Ibn Kathir, Q. 20:109; bold and capital emphasis ours)

And:

(Intercession with Him profits not except for him whom He permits.) meaning, because of His might, majesty and pride, no one would dare to intercede with Him in any matter, except after being granted His permission to intercede. As Allah says…

(Who is he that can intercede with Him except with His permission) (2:255)…

(And there are many angels in the heavens, whose intercession will avail nothing except after Allah has given leave for whom He wills and is pleased with.) (53:26)…

(and they cannot intercede except for him with whom He is pleased. And they stand in awe for fear of Him) (21:28). It was reported in the Two Sahihs through more than one chain of narration that the Messenger of Allah, who is the leader of the sons of Adam and the greatest intercessor before Allah, will go to stand in Al-Maqam Al-Mahmud (the praised position) to intercede for all of mankind when their Lord comes to pass judgement upon them. He said…

<<Then I will prostrate to Allah, may He be exalted, and He will leave me (in that position), as long as Allah wills, and He will inspire me to speak words of praise which I cannot mention now. Then it will be said, "O Muhammad, raise your head. Speak, you will be heard; ask, you will be given; intercede, your intercession will be accepted…”>> (Tafsir Ibn Kathir, Q. 34:23; bold emphasis ours)

And here is a narration from the hadith collection of al-Bukhari, considered to be the most authentic source of religious guidance after the Quran, which reiterates this point:

“… ‘Then I will ask for my Lord's permission, and it will be given, and then He will inspire me to praise Him with such praises as I do not know now. So I will praise Him with those praises and will fall down, prostrate before Him. Then it will be said, “O Muhammad, raise your head and speak, for you will be listened to; and ask, for your will be granted (your request); and intercede, for your intercession will be accepted.” I will say, “O Lord, my followers! My followers!” And then it will be said, “GO AND TAKE OUT OF HELL (Fire) all those who have faith in their hearts, equal to the weight of a barley grain.” I will go and do so and return to praise Him with the same praises, and fall down (prostrate) before Him. Then it will be said, “O Muhammad, raise your head and speak, for you will be listened to, and ask, for you will be granted (your request); and intercede, for your intercession will be accepted.” I will say, “O Lord, my followers! My followers!” It will be said, “Go and take out of it all those who have faith in their hearts equal to the weight of a small ant or a mustard seed.” I will go and do so and return to praise Him with the same praises, and fall down in prostration before Him. It will be said, “O, Muhammad, raise your head and speak, for you will be listened to, and ask, for you will be granted (your request); and intercede, for your intercession will be accepted.” I will say, “O Lord, my followers!” Then He will say, “Go and take out (all those) in whose hearts there is faith even to the lightest, lightest mustard seed. (Take them) out of the Fire.” I will go and do so.’ When we left Anas, I said to some of my companions, ‘Let's pass by Al-Hasan who is hiding himself in the house of Abi Khalifa and request him to tell us what Anas bin Malik has told us.’ So we went to him and we greeted him and he admitted us. We said to him, ‘O Abu Said! We came to you from your brother Anas Bin Malik and he related to us a Hadith about the intercession the like of which I have never heard.’ He said, ‘What is that?’ Then we told him of the Hadith and said, ‘He stopped at this point (of the Hadith).’ He said, ‘What then?’ We said, ‘He did not add anything to that.’ He said, ‘Anas related the Hadith to me twenty years ago when he was a young fellow. I don't know whether he forgot or if he did not like to let you depend on what he might have said.’ We said, ‘O Abu Said! Let us know that.’ He smiled and said, ‘Man was created hasty. I did not mention that, but that I wanted to inform you of it. Anas told me the same as he told you and said that the Prophet added, “I then return for a fourth time and praise Him similarly and prostrate before Him… ‘O Muhammad, raise your head and speak, for you will be listened to; and ask, for you will be granted (your request): and intercede, for your intercession will be accepted.’ I will say, ‘O Lord, allow me to intercede for whoever said, “None has the right to be worshiped except Allah.” Then Allah will say, ‘By my Power, and my Majesty, and by My Supremacy, and by My Greatness, I will take out of hell (Fire) whoever said: ‘None has the right to be worshipped except Allah.’”’” (Sahih al-Bukhari, Volume 9, Book 93, Number 601)

These traditions once again illustrate the fact that, contrary to Williams’ assertion, Allah isn’t the only savior in Islam. According to the above statements, Islam’s real savior is Muhammad since he is said to be the one who will save his followers by taking them out of hell through his intercession.

Williams is now faced with a serious problem. Williams must accept the fact that his claim that there is no a human mediator in Islam, since only Allah is the savior, basically ends up making Muhammad into another god besides Allah. At the very least, it suggests that Muhammad shares in the unique, divine identity of Allah, which would therefore imply that Allah is actually a multi-personal being!

Notice how this works out logically.

  1. Williams argues that only Allah is the savior and that Muslims do not need a human intermediary.
  2. Yet Islam teaches that Muhammad is the real savior of Muslims and that “believers” need his intercession in order to be forgiven of their sins.
  3. Muhammad must therefore be a god, and cannot merely be an imperfect human creature.
  4. However, Islam further teaches (or so it is claimed) that there is no other deity besides Allah.
  5. This suggests that Muhammad shares in the unique identity of Allah, which in turn means that Allah must be a multi-personal being.

Yet Williams knows full well that he cannot accept such a position since the Quran goes out of its way to affirm that Muhammad was an imperfect, fallible sinner who was uncertain of his own eternal fate, and couldn’t therefore harm or benefit anyone:

Say (O Muhammad): "I possess no power of benefit or hurt to myself except as Allah wills. If I had the knowledge of the Ghaib (unseen), I should have secured for myself an abundance of wealth, and no evil should have touched me. I am but a warner, and a bringer of glad tidings unto people who believe." S. 7:188

May Allah forgive you (O Muhammad). Why did you grant them leave (for remaining behind, you should have persisted as regards your order to them to proceed on Jihad), until those who told the truth were seen by you in a clear light, and you had known the liars? S. 9:43 Hilali-Khan – cf. Q. 4:106-107; 40:55; 47:19; 48:1-2; 80:1-10; 110:3

Verily, they were about to tempt you away from that which We have revealed (the Qur'an) unto you (O Muhammad), to fabricate something other than it against Us, and then they would certainly have taken you a friend! And had We not made you stand firm, you would nearly have inclined to them a little. In that case, We would have made you taste a double portion (of punishment) in this life and a double portion (of punishment) after death. And then you would have found none to help you against Us. S. 17:73-75 Hilali-Khan

Or you have a house of adornable materials (like silver and pure gold, etc.), or you ascend up into the sky, and even then we will put no faith in your ascension until you bring down for us a Book that we would read." Say (O Muhammad): "Glorified (and Exalted) be my Lord (Allah) above all that evil they (polytheists) associate with Him! Am I anything but a man, sent as a Messenger?" S. 17:93 Hilali-Khan

Say (O Muhammad): "I am only a man like you. It has been inspired to me that your Ilah (God) is One Ilah (God i.e. Allah). So whoever hopes for the Meeting with his Lord, let him work righteousness and associate none as a partner in the worship of his Lord.” S. 18:110 Hilali-Khan

Verily, you (O Muhammad) will die and verily, they (too) will die. Then, on the Day of Resurrection, you will be disputing before your Lord. S. 39:30-31 – cf. Q. 3:144

Say (unto them O Muhammad): I am only a mortal like you. It is inspired in me that your God is One God, therefor take the straight path unto Him and seek forgiveness of Him. And woe unto the idolaters, S. 41:6 Pickthall

Say (O Muhammad): "I am not a new thing among the Messengers (of Allah) (i.e. I am not the first Messenger) nor do I know what will be done with me or with you. I only follow that which is revealed to me, and I am but a plain warner." S. 46:9 Hilali-Khan

Say (O Muhammad): "I invoke only my Lord (Allah Alone), and I associate none as partners along with Him." Say: "It is not in my power to cause you harm, or to bring you to the Right Path." Say (O Muhammad): "None can protect me from Allah's punishment (if I were to disobey Him), nor should I find refuge except in Him. (Mine is) but conveyance (of the truth) from Allah and His Messages (of Islamic Monotheism), and whosoever disobeys Allah and His Messenger, then verily, for him is the Fire of Hell, he shall dwell therein forever." Till, when they see that which they are promised, then they will know who it is that is weaker concerning helpers and less important concerning numbers. Say (O Muhammad): “I know not whether (the punishment) which you are promised is near or whether my Lord will appoint for it a distant term. (He Alone) the All-Knower of the Gha'ib (unseen), and He reveals to none His Gha'ib (unseen)." S. 72:20-26 Hilali-Khan

The Quran further says that no person will help another on the Day of Judgment since each individual will be worried his/her own fate and standing before Allah:

Then, when there comes As-Sakhkhah (the Day of Resurrection's second blowing of Trumpet), That Day shall a man flee from his brother, And from his mother and his father, And from his wife and his children. Everyman, that Day, will have enough to make him careless of others. S. 80:33-37 Hilali-Khan

How, then, can Muhammad save or intercede for anyone?

Since this is a problem for Williams to solve, we therefore need not concern ourselves with trying to figure out a way to reconcile this mess which Williams has created for himself.

Instead, we invite him to do the only honest thing he can do, and abandon this false religion. We would also like to exhort him to return to the only Intercessor and Mediator who can actually save him, one who was truly human and yet infinitely more.

We highly encourage Williams to come back to his great God and Savior, Jesus Christ, since this is the only hope he has of ever being saved from God’s just wrath which will be unleashed upon all those who have refused to accept God’s gracious provision of salvation which comes through believing in and obeying the Gospel of our risen Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ:

“But the angel said to them, ‘Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people. Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord.’” Luke 2:10-11

“For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost.” Luke 19:10

“He said to them, ‘This is what I told you while I was still with you: Everything must be fulfilled that is written about me in the Law of Moses, the Prophets and the Psalms.’ Then he opened their minds so they could understand the Scriptures. He told them, ‘This is what is written: The Messiah will suffer and rise from the dead on the third day, and repentance for the forgiveness of sins will be preached in his name to all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.’” Luke 24:44-47

“For they themselves report concerning us the kind of reception we had among you, and how you turned to God from idols to serve the living and true God, and to wait for his Son from heaven, whom he raised from the dead, Jesus who delivers us from the wrath to come.” 1 Thessalonians 1:9-10

“For God did not appoint us to suffer wrath but to receive salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ. He died for us so that, whether we are awake or asleep, we may live together with him.” 1 Thessalonians 5:9-10

“All this is evidence that God’s judgment is right, and as a result you will be counted worthy of the kingdom of God, for which you are suffering. God is just: He will pay back trouble to those who trouble you and give relief to you who are troubled, and to us as well. This will happen when the Lord Jesus is revealed from heaven in blazing fire with his powerful angels. He will punish those who do not know God and do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus. They will be punished with everlasting destruction and shut out from the presence of the Lord and from the glory of his might on the day he comes to be glorified in his holy people and to be marveled at among all those who have believed. This includes you, because you believed our testimony to you.” 2 Thessalonians 1:5-10

“Here is a trustworthy saying that deserves full acceptance: Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners—of whom I am the worst.” 1 Timothy 1:15

“This is good, and pleases God our Savior, who wants all people to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth. For there is one God and one mediator between God and mankind, the man Christ Jesus, who gave himself as a ransom for all people. This has now been witnessed to at the proper time.” 1 Timothy 2:3-6

“while we wait for the blessed hope—the appearing of the glory of our GREAT GOD AND SAVIOR, Jesus Christ, who gave himself for us to redeem us from all wickedness and to purify for himself a people that are his very own, eager to do what is good.” Titus 2:13-14

“In the presence of God and of Christ Jesus, who will judge the living and the dead, and in view of HIS appearing and HIS kingdom, I give you this charge… For I am already being poured out like a drink offering, and the time for my departure is near. I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day—and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for HIS appearingThe Lord will rescue me from every evil attack and will bring me safely to HIS heavenly kingdom. To him be glory for ever and ever. Amen.” 2 Timothy 4:1, 6-8, 18
